And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.

1 Corinthians 2:1-2

At Wittenberg, the service is divine.

When you come to worship at Wittenberg Lutheran Chapel, you will experience Divine Service. In this place, God comes to you through the objective means of Word and Sacrament to serve you with his forgiveness, life, and salvation in Christ. Far from being a place where you are loaded down with a weekly laundry list of things to do to serve God, here you are reminded constantly of how God has served you in the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Sunday Divine Service: 10:30 am

The Lord’s Supper at Wittenberg

The Lord's Supper is celebrated here weekly. We share the glad confession that in this holy meal, Christ himself gives us what he promises: his true body and blood for the forgiveness of our sins. We also confess that the Lord's Supper is a meal of doctrinal unity (1 Cor. 10:14-22). We'd love to have you join us at the altar for this gift. At the same time we strive to receive this gift according to our Lord's institution, for our benefit rather than to our harm (1 Cor. 11:27-32). If you are not currently a member of a Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod congregation, please refrain from communing at this time and speak with Pastor Suelzle to set up a time to meet.

What to expect

The preaching, teaching, hymnody, and liturgies at Wittenberg are soundly and joyfully founded upon Christ, crucified and risen for the forgiveness of sins. You can expect to hear the proclamation of God's Law, exposing your sin and need for a Savior. You can expect to hear the proclamation of God's Gospel, how he has shown you grace and forgiveness in Christ Jesus alone. You can expect to be reminded often of your baptism into Christ, where God has made a decision for you and called you his own. And, for those who share our common confession, you can expect to be comforted with the true body and blood of Christ, given and shed for you for the forgiveness of your sins.
